The new TT 449 tool touch probe from HEIDENHAIN transmits its switching signals via infrared transmission, permitting automatic measurement of tools in numerically controlled machine tools. This eliminates the need for cables in the machine’s working space. The touch probe is therefore suitable for applications where unrestricted movement of the axes as well as tilting or rotating of the work table or rotary table are necessary.
The TT 449 tool touch probe, in conjunction with the measuring cycles of the CNC control, offers the possibility of automatically inspecting and measuring tools right on the machine. The wireless infrared transmission does not restrict movement in any manner. This means that 5-axis machining centers, which could not be equipped with cable-connected touch probes from HEIDENHAIN, can now be equipped with a tool touch probe from HEIDENHAIN.
The new SE 642 transmitter/receiver unit makes it possible to operate a TT infrared tool touch probe and a TS infrared workpiece touch probe simultaneously.
